Had for about a year now, works great, magnet is super strong. Bumps and pot holes do not seem to be an issue. However DO NOT leave it on the window during the summer if you are not driving. The suction cup will get gooey and melt making an absolute mess on your windshield. Works as expected. I have it on my car’s dash. I was a little hesitant because I didn’t want sticky residue on my dash board if I needed to remove it.It has suction, along with a silicon backing which works just like on your windshield. The surface does have to be smooth for it to adhere properly. At first installation, it was great but I wanted to change the position so that I could get a better view of my phone. It took a little work. There is a tab on the silicon that you would use to loosen the grip after releasing the suction. You’ll need to tug on the tab, but after a little work on my part- okay – a LOT of work on my part- The silicon finally gave way. Clean and clear with no sticky residue on my dash, now I know I can remove it and use in my other car with no problem. The rotating head is great and the extra magnet tabs are a bonus because if you change your cover like I do, you could put one on each cover. There are also silicone pads that you would attach to your phone before placing the magnets on it so that you can remove it more easily if you change your phone. Overall I am very happy, I have one on my counter at home too! Works perfectly. I purchased two of these mounts, one for each auto. Installed this one on the dash and then attempted to move it to a different location. The “suction cup” base is so sticky that I had difficulty removing it and eventually had to grasp both the release tab on the “suction cub” and the upper part of the mount to get it to let go. That resulted in the top part separating [breaking] from the bottom part. The two parts are connected via a pin in the upper part that goes through a hole in a shaft in the lower part.I examined the connection between the two parts and found that they under engineered the shaft in the lower part, not providing enough plastic around the top of the hole. When pulling up on the device trying to remove it, the thin plastic at the top of the shaft broke – quite easily. The return via Amazon was quite easy as usual, BUT Amazon offered, and encouraged, me to return the loose parts to a The UPS Store and UPS would package it at no charge. THAT IS NOT QUITE TRUE! It turns out only some UPS Stores are participating and my local UPS Store is not one of them. SO, I had to pay UPS $2.12 for the packaging that I could have easily done by myself. BEWARE!!! Very impressed with the build quality and the strength of the magnet. Works well through my phone case, but the plates are so thin that I decided to put one directly on my S5, and the other on the S5 case. That gives me more mounting options…The good: The suction is of the gel variety, and it would probably stick to a dog, if you tried it. It stuck to my dash VERY firmly, before I even actuated the suction cup lever. I don’t see this thing ever falling off on its own while driving. The head is adjustable to infinite angles, and there is a collar wheel to tighten the head when you get it adjusted to your liking. There is even a little cable catch that secures the cable to the head, so you don’t have to go fishing for the power cable every time you place the phone on it. The mount comes with 2 very thin mount plates for your phone or phone case. They are so stylish that I mounted the smaller one directly to my phone. I have had other mounts that grab the sides of the phone, and this one is by FAR more secure than anything else I have tried. It is also simple on/off. One hand… no fiddling with mount arms that you have to open to get it to grab your phone. For my application, 2015 F150, I have it mounted under the little cubby, which is to the left of the air control panel on the lower dash area. That puts it a comfortable distance from my right knee. It is out of the sun for viewing, and out of my way for driving. Perfect! Someone on one of the F150 forums pointed out the spot OVER the cubby as where they mounted theirs… which got me looking there in the first place. I never even noticed the area of smooth dash down there…The bad: Very weak magnet, design flawed, too close to windshield and limited rotation makes it almost impossible for larger cellphones to stick on. I bought the window/dash version, and would not stick to dash, keeps falling over. Sticks well to glass but design not functional. I bought a lot of different types, and this was more on the mid to top priced items but sadly does not live up to it. You don’t get what you pay for with this one, stay away. I bought this to use at my desk, but changed cars and needed a new solution. In all our other cars we have the slip-on vent mounts and love them for ease of use and reliability. The magnets are strong and the grips hold well. But in a Jeep Wrangler they flop all over the place due to the vent design. Enter the need to put this into the jeep. Works great on glass…holds well and magnet doesn’t drop 8-plus iPhone. But I wanted it down lower so tried every flat spot on dash and in every case the suction cup would release within 10 seconds. Anything with texture or a very slight curve failed. Surprising and disappointing given the sticky suction cup. So great if your car has a Formica dash or if putting on window, else not so useful in car. Some models include Qi Wireless charging. 2 the 3m tape could not match for some dashboards. You ve signed up. A Larger and smaller Magic Plate are included. You can easily adjust your phone s viewing angle using its gooseneck arm.
