Metra 70-1858 Radio Wiring Harness For GM 88-05 Harness Description
Plugs into car harness Power/4 Speaker 21-Pin plug.5 inches long Used for Installing an Aftermarket Receiver to factory plug Allows for the installation of an aftermarket radio using the existing factory wiring and connectors I matched up the wires color for color to my Pioneer 8700 (using 3M gel connecters took 5 min!). I removed my old deck and this harness plugged right in. The deck turned on and seamed fine except I had NO sound coming from the speakers (sub worked with RCAs). I thought for sure the speaker wires were wrong so I double checked the schematic. Everything was wired correctly. After many hours of research, I figured out that the Blue with white stripe (amp turn on) wire from the new deck needed to be connected to a pink wire from a now disconnected wiring harness, that had been previously hooked to the back of the factory deck. This sends a signal to the truck’s amp to turn on and power the door speakers. You’re welcome! Plugged right into the wire harness of my 2002 Chevy 1500 with no issues and the wire colors matched the head unit harness exactly making the new radio install very painless. I just soldered the two harnesses together in the house matching all color wires together after verifying wiring diagrams and simply plugged everything into the truck with no issues. I ordered this for replacing the stock radio in my ’98 GMC Sierra C1500, and this harness worked perfectly for the Kenwood aftermarket radio I purchased. This harness adapter made the entire process so much easier, not having to cut out the original harness itself. I highly recommend this for anyone looking to replace a stock radio with an after market one, and is looking to not cut any factory wires in the process. I have a 2001 Chevy Silverado and wanted to install an aftermarket stereo. The purchase of this wiring harness made that install a million times easier. It includes a simple list of what all the wires do and it’s easy to match up to your aftermarket head unit. No need to butcher your factory wiring.Everything works properly. I recommend this to just about anybody doing an install on a compatible GMT800 vehicle. PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS IF YOU HAVE A BOSE and ON STAR system as your factory radio system. If so you must purchase AXXESS GMOS-04 it allows you to actually plug and play as well as interconnect the factory interface. I did not want to have to cut wires BUT this is crap. Don’t have time to wait for another one All I had to do to make this work was cut the pink wire in my original harness and tie it into the remote wire coming from the c.d. player. That was it turns the factory amplifier on and the entire system works. My factory subwoofer even still works. The only thing that does not work is my onstar. Worked on my 2000 Chevy Suburban W/ Factory Amp & Onstar. Had to take the (PINK) Wire from the 2nd Harness on the Factory Head Unit. Wire it into the (BLUE) Amp wire on the metra harness and add a fuse( Just to be safe) in order to have sound. This will allow you to not have to buy a one of those special $100 dollar door chime adapters.. By wiring in the pink wire i still have door chime just no on star.Total writer.
