The clock would just flash or sometimes the display would go out all together and had no music. I had an old radio laying around and this kit was cheap and had just about everything I needed One thing to keep in mind is that in the wiring harness , the 12v switch power wire is not present on the factory harness. You will need to connect that to a switch power source. I bought a fuse tap from autozone and connected to fuse 37 and it works when the ignition is on. Otherwise it don’t look bad , the texture of the kit matches the rest of the trim pretty good and I now have music again for long trips Let me start with, this dash mount is great! Very easy to install and looks great! We were able to adjust to make it look almost factory!! HOWEVER… We bought this thinking it would allow us to install our newish pioneer touch screen stereo deck and kicker subs and amp but that is NOT the case. The wiring harnesses are all very different and I was told by several installers that almost all touch screens need a specific wiring harness. Which was another $75 for us. This wiring harness was junk. The mount is worth the money for the most part, so I’m not too upset. Just wish I had known BEFORE purchase and install. I recently used this kit to install an aftermarket radio on a 2014 F150 XL. Here’s the scoop:PROS:1. Cheap2. Plastic is easy enough to cut with a sharp utility knife (see CONS)CONS:1. Fitment is not very good with the control panel. In particular the hazard light at the top of the panel doesn’t fit well. I had to both cut the plastic down with a utility knife and build up one edge with electrical tape to get the proper fit. Otherwise, the hazard button was stuck after pressing it.2. The fit at the top where the plastic/rubber mat is wasn’t very good. Mat had to be altered to squeeze into the new space.3. Adapter to the F150 OEM radio harness was not correct. The ignition (red) wire was in the wrong position. This took a lot of extra work to splice it in separately. I was not happy about this.Tips:1. If you buy this product there are instructions for removing certain tabs that will secure your radio to the dash. At first I tried with a pliers but was afraid I would crack the entire panel. Use your thumb instead to push them down (see photos). For the double tab use a flat head screw driver first then your thumb for the second one (see photo).2. Have a sharp, new utility blade in your knife because you’re likely going to need to do some subtle modifications. There are also several pieces where the plastic spill from the mold keeps the part from going in properly until you clean up the edges.Overall:I’m cheap so I might but this again. But the harness with a pin in the wrong slot really spoiled things. I’d buy a different product for that reason alone. Perfect fit. The only item that needed attention was the red wire that controls the on and off switch. It didn’t work and I had to custom connect it to another wire in the truck for it to work. I have a Ford F-150 2012. I have used several of these kits in the past, this was the first that fought me a bit. There was a lot of leftover “flashing”, plastic that needed removed using a knife around the 12 volt outlet hole, and top mounting holes. When mounting into my 2013 F150, there is no 12 volt accessory/switched power line, unlike what the directions and diagram says. You have to run a wire to the switch box below passenger panel, and use a “Add-A-Circuit Mini” adapter to tap into breaker 38. Once that was done, the rest of the assembly went well. The texture is not a match for my interior, but it still looks nice. For the money, hard to beat. I bought this and I hooked everything up and I had no power to the radio. This is not the fault of the harness. The manufacturer (2012 Ford F-150 XLT) does not supply an accessory 12v wire to the stock radio. You will have to run one yourself, some people are blaming the seller but it’s actually the vehicle manufacturer. This kit worked for my 09 f-150 without sync. I did have to run my own 12v wire from my Kenwood to the hazard/ traction control harness. It was the red wire on my double din radio and I believe the yellow/blue wire on the hazard /traction control conector at leastthat was the case on my 09. The dash kit was a bit tricky, you have to break off certain tabs on it to make it work and have to press really hard to get the side panels to merge with the front trim. This was not a quick install, but I am happy with the way it turned out. This ad said that the product was a perfect fit for ALL trim levels. I have the 2009 F150 Platinum and this doesn’t match up with my buttons. My row of buttons containing the hazard button at the top is not smaller and centered like this. Mine has 2 sets of buttons, one left and one right. The ad should be corrected to show that this kid doesn’t work with the Platinum trim.
